AIDSO extends its full Support to the Movement of Iranian Women

Students Pledge News Dt 25.09.022 – Expressing solidarity with the ongoing protest of Iranian women against strictly enforced Islamic law, Sourav Ghosh, the General Secretary of AIDSO has issued the following statement to the press:
“All India Democratic Students’ Organisation (AIDSO) salutes the valiantly fighting women of Iran who are out to eradicate the veil of blindness, obscurantism & fanaticism engulfing Iranian society! In a grief-stricken incident, Mahsa Amin, a 22-year-old Kurdish woman died while being held by the ‘Guidance Patrol’ in Tehran for violating the Islamic dress code. Her death has attracted strong ire and millions of Iranian women have opposed the Islamic law which makes the hijab compulsory for women. Authorities responded with a brutal crackdown and till now 31 protestors have laid down their lives in the movement. With a heavy heart, AIDSO expresses its condolences to the bereaved family members of Mahsa Amin and the sisters who have laid down their lives in the movement. This
heroic struggle is not a mere fight demanding the choice of wearing a cloth. This rebellion is an outcome of brewing discontentment against the anti-people policies, and anti-women practices ruthlessly pursued by the government.
AIDSO extends its full support to this struggle of Iranian women and hopes that this will culminate in the establishment of a new secular and democratic society, inspire the women’s emancipation
struggles of the entire world and strive for the total emancipation of human civilization from the
bondage of capitalism-imperialism.”
