StudentsPledge Date 12.05.2023 –
The All India Committee of AIDSO extends its heartfelt solidarity with the protesting students of Geyzing
Government Degree College of Sikkim.
While the students are demanding the timely completion of institution’s building, which is very much a democratic demand but the government disrespecting the democratic practices is taking actions like arresting and expulsion of students. Even after serving a legal notice which allows those students to continue their study, the college authority has been reluctant to issue admit cards for the end-session exams. It cannot be denied that this punitive action by the Sikkim University is because of the political direction by state ruling party.
But finally, because of the increasing pressure of the students’ movement, Sikkim University has been compelled to release result of the protesting students on 4th May 2023 as per the directive of the High Court. This victory is not only the victory of suspended students but is also a victory of the democratic students community of Sikkim.
Our organisation All India Democratic Students’ Organisation (AIDSO), from the scratch, has been against the false charges which was lodged against those students. We relentlessly opposed the autocratic and heinous approach of the state government towards student community and would like to appeal to the students community of Sikkim to stand up against this fascistic measure in order to save hard earned democratic rights.
