Students Pledge News 28/12/2021 – Denouncing attacks on resident doctors in Delhi today, Sourav Ghosh, General Secretary of AIDSO stated: “We strongly condemn the brutal attack on the resident doctors by the Delhi Police while they were protesting
democratically. The counselling of NEET PG and NEET UG has been deferred unusually and the resident
doctors have become overburdened inhumanely in different medical colleges and hospitals. On the other side,
thousands of successful candidates have become stressed and are waiting anxiously for the date of
counselling. Practically, one academic year has been lapsed already. The Central government is fully
responsible for this unprecedented critical situation.
Resident doctors of Delhi have been organising movement demanding immediate counselling. We have already
extended our whole hearted support and solidarity to the resident doctor’s movement since beginning. Today,
Delhi police brutally attacked on the resident doctors, thrashed, detained and even manhandled and abused the
female doctors. It is a very shameful incident, when the doctors are appreciated as COVID warriors, in spite of
solving the genuine problems of resident doctors, government is acting irresponsibly and is totally indifferent
to the crisis created by none but the government.
We demand exemplary punishment to the cops who were involved in abusing female doctors. We also demand
that immediate necessary steps to be taken by the central government to expedite the counselling procedure.
We extend our solidarity and support to the resident doctors fighting for establishing justice.”
